I have a million things
I could blog about this week.
Seriously one million things.
And yet, I can’t fix my photoshop.
And you know how I feel about
having a post without a picture, right?
It is totally and completely unacceptable!
Tomorrow is Writer’s Workshop.
And since I have a few minutes
(and I have no earthly idea
how you post to your blog
at different days and times…
just call me genius : )
I am going to do my post now!
Describe a moment you felt
embarrassed by your parents.
(inspired by
3 Boys + 1 Hubby = What Next?)
In keeping with my pattern,
I am going to change it around a bit!
This will be a moment
when Kaish felt embarrassed by me!
Because, believe it or not,
I am embarrassing occasionally.
So, Kaish had a dentist appointment
this week.
Please do not ask me if
I completely skipped his appointment
last year.
I mean, how is that even possible?
Isn’t that like the ONE thing
Mothers know to do?
Make sure your kid
goes to the dentist once a year.
It isn’t rocket science that’s for sure.
But last year did pass us by without a trip!
So you can be very sure
I was elated he was going this year.
I called and made the appointment
right in the beginning of school!
So, we set out yesterday afternoon.
I picked him up from school at 2:30 PM.
He was very disappointed
that I had not made
the appointment earlier.
Apparently missing school is the COOL
thing to do in 4th grade.
He also informed me that his classmates
skip out early ALL the time when they
leave for Dentist appointments.
He said they have already been
leaving early this year.
And he mentioned they left
early last year too…
I tried to change the subject so he would not
realize his mother was a
dentist appointment making FAILURE…
So, we get to the Dentist
and I am all like
“Do you want Mommy to go back with you?
Are you scared?
Do you know what to do?”
And he is like
“Mom! I am 9.”
Oh yeah, I forget that sometimes.
So he goes back and I am reading a magazine,
something glamorous and sophisticated
since I am SO glamorous and sophisticated,
(This is how I look as I am laying in the dentist chair)
and the Receptionist opens her glass
and says,
“Rebeckah, we just noticed you missed
your cleaning last year too.
Would you like to get one done?”
Well, Of course I would : )!
(This is how I actually look in the dentist chair.
I actually GROW a goatee
during my visit…
It’s alarming, really.
You can see why I
skip visits occasionally)
I headed right back to the chair.
Now you should know
that there are 3 kinds
of toothbrushers at our house
1. HATES brushing teeth.
Must be forced at bedtime.
Can’t possibly brush in the morning before leaving
as it makes his breakfast taste funny…
Floss makes him cry.
2. Brushes twice a day. NEVER flosses.
And 3. Brushes morning and night.
Usually after lunch.
Flosses religiously.
Encourages brushers #1 and #2 to brush
and floss MORE frequently.
I hope you can figure out which one I am!
Here is a tiny hint,
my number rhymes with glee.
Any way, I didn’t have a fear in the world.
Our dentist is delightful!
Oh my gosh! I love him!
If you live near me,
(I don’t think I have
even 1 reader that lives near me.)
you should call him!
He will totally make you smile.
Well, that is until you are checking out
and he is telling your sweet kid
that he is cavity free
and you are all smiling and charming
and grabbing your wallet
when you hear,
“When would you like to come back
to get your cavities filled?”
And you are looking around
(like an idiot)
and confused because
didn’t they just say your kid
is Cavity Free?
Oh NO!
Apparently,
this super duper old Mommy
has 2 cavities.
I almost cried.
I totally embarrassed Kaish.
Don’t worry though.
The Dentist said they are VERY tiny!
And he said with proper brushing
and flossing
we will not likely have this problem again!
How often do you go to the Dentist?
